The principle and use of sandblasting

    Sandblasting uses compressed air flow to spray quartz sand on the surface of stainless steel parts to clean or modify the surface. Sandblasting can be divided into dry sandblasting and wet sandblasting. The uses of sandblasting are:

    1 Remove casting sand and oxide scale on the surface of stainless steel after casting, forging or heat treatment.

    2 Remove rust, carbon deposits and welding slag on the surface of stainless steel.

    3 Improve the roughness of the stainless steel surface, thereby improving the bonding force of the back surface covering layer.

    4 Remove burrs and directional wear marks on the edges of the parts.

    5 Matte the surface of stainless steel.

    The parts should be degreasing before dry sandblasting, and then dry, because the oil stain or wet surface affects the sandblasting effect. Abrasives are generally quartz sand that has been cleaned and screened, and the compressed air pressure is selected in the range of 0.5 to 0.1 MPa.

    Wet blasting is to mix quartz sand and water into mortar (the volume ratio of quartz sand is 20%~30%), and press the mortar into the nozzle with compressed air under agitation to blow to the surface of the part, or separate the sand and water Mix and blow out before flowing to the nozzle. Wet blasting eliminates the pollution of sand and dust to the air, and finer abrasives can be used to obtain a finer surface.
