Glass-ceramics ceramics, also known as machinable ceramics, are mica glass-ceramics with synthetic mica as the main crystal phase. It is a ceramic material that can be machined. This material has good processing properties, vacuum performance, electrical insulation properties and Excellent performance such as high temperature resistance and chemical corrosion resistance. Its characteristics are as follows:
(1) Machinability: The most prominent feature of glass-ceramics is that standard metal processing tools and equipment can be used for turning, milling, wounding, grinding, drilling, sawing and thread tapping. It is incomparable with insulating materials such as general 95 porcelain and silicon oxide porcelain. The processing performance of glass-ceramics is similar to that of cast iron, and it can be processed into various products with complex shapes and high precision requirements.
(2) Electrical properties: Glass-ceramics is an excellent high-temperature electrical insulation material, with high electrical insulation strength, high volume resistance and low dielectric loss.
(3) Thermal performance: Glass-ceramics is a high-temperature resistant insulating material, and at the same time, it is a corrosion-resistant electrical insulating material that can be widely used in the ultra-low temperature field. Its use range is 270-800℃. Because the mica crystals in glass-ceramics have a certain elasticity to prevent the extension of microcracks, it also has better thermal shock resistance.
(4) Other properties: Glass-ceramics are non-magnetic, with a density of 1/3 of that of ordinary steel, lighter than aluminum, and extremely low water absorption.
(5) Application: Due to its various excellent comprehensive properties, glass-ceramics can meet high-precision technical requirements, and is especially suitable for automotive military industry, aerospace, precision instruments, medical equipment, electric vacuum devices, electron beam exposure machines, textile machinery , Sensors, mass spectrometers and energy spectrometers are widely used. It is more suitable for some thin-walled coil bobbins, insulating supports of precision instruments, and devices with high precision requirements such as complex shapes. It can be processed into any shape. It has higher strength than boron nitride, lower outgassing rate, temperature resistance, no deformation, no deterioration, and durability than PTFE, better than alumina porcelain, and better processability.
The thermal shock resistance of the glass-ceramics is very good, and the strength will not change when quenched from 800℃ to 0℃, and the strength will not change when quenched at 200℃ to 0℃.
