Industrial lasers have been widely used as an efficient and reliable production tool. In some fields, laser welding has become an alternative technology to some traditional welding methods (such as resistance spot welding and arc welding). This is because laser welding has its advantages Unique advantages:
①The heat input is small and the aspect ratio is large, so the heat-affected zone is small, and the shrinkage and deformation of the workpiece are small. Especially suitable for welding precision parts and heat-sensitive materials;
②The welding has continuity and repeatability;
③The weld bead is narrow and the surface quality is good, and the weld strength is high (the stiffness increases while the weld size decreases, which has higher static load strength and fatigue strength compared with discontinuous resistance spot welding);
④ It is easy to realize automation for accurately positioned welds;
⑤It can realize welding of dissimilar materials, and can weld materials with large differences in physical properties between steel and aluminum;
⑥Laser beam control (including time-sharing control) is more flexible, and can be welded to inaccessible parts with the help of deflection prisms or optical fibers, which is not easy to achieve with other welding methods;
⑦The welding speed is usually faster than other welding processes;
⑧The welding seam does not need to be cleaned after welding;
⑨ Compared with electron beam welding, laser welding has the outstanding advantage that there is no vacuum system and no X-ray hazard.
Laser welding also has certain disadvantages:
①It is easy to form hard and brittle joints when welding hardenable materials;
②Evaporation of alloying elements will cause pores and undercuts in the welds;
③The requirements for the assembly and clamping of the workpiece and the precise adjustment of the laser beam are relatively high.
